We’re replacing payroll with compute.
Variadic Group is a holding company for small software businesses. Instead of hiring a team for each one, we built a factory: AI agents that plan, write, test and ship the software on one shared platform, with a person setting the direction and approving every release.
- Team per product
- Agents, not hires
- Shared by every product
- One platform
- Releases a person approves
- All of them
01. The problem
Small markets don’t get good software.
Software has always been gated by headcount. A product needs engineers, designers, support and operations before anyone knows whether the market wants it.
So most small, specific problems never get a real product. The market is too small to pay for the team.
02. Our approach
The machine that builds the machine.
We put the team into software. Each product is built and run by agents working inside one proven stack, with automated checks on every change.
Everything a product needs that isn’t the product itself is built once and shared, so each new product starts further ahead than the last.
03. Questions we get
“Isn’t AI-written code a maintenance problem?”
Not when it runs inside rails. Agents work in one fixed stack, every change has to pass the tests and checks before it merges, and a person approves each release to production.
“Aren’t these markets too small?”
That’s the point. Without a team to pay for each product, a niche a venture-backed startup couldn’t live on can still be a good business, and there are many of them.
“Who looks after customers?”
Each product has its own support address, and a person answers it. Agents do the legwork: finding the order, reading the logs, drafting the fix.
“What stops someone else from doing this?”
Any one product is easy to copy. The factory isn’t: what each product teaches it carries into the next, so it gets faster and better with every product it ships.
